What is Global entry program (GEP)?

Global entry program is a US customs & border protection (CBP) trusted traveler program that allows speedy clearance for pre-approved & low risk travelers through dedicated lanes & kiosks after their arrival in US.

In which countries Global Entry Program is applicable?

This program is open for legitimate permanents residents of US, Indian citizens, UK citizens, Dutch citizens, South Korean citizens, Singapore citizens, German citizens, Swiss citizens, Colombian citizens, Panama citizens, Argentina citizens and Mexican nationals.

How the Global Entry Program operates?

Members of Global entry program got speedy clearance from the airport authorities by proceeding through global entry kiosks. In order to get clearance through global entry kiosks, you need to present your machine readable passport or US permanent resident card, clear the fingerprints verification by placing fingerprints on the scanner as well as complete the customer declaration to complete the whole procedure. After completing the procedure, a transaction receipt is issued to the traveler and directs the traveler to claim the baggage & finally exit the airport.

What is Background verification for Global Entry Program (GEP)?

Background verification for Global entry program is a service provided through passport Seva system to conduct examination of the passport as well as criminal record check for Indian citizens who wishes to enroll for U.S global entry program. You need to obtain clearance from your regional passport office to join global entry program. Travelers must be pre-approved for GEP. All Indian applicants need to undergo proper background check and in person interview before enrolling into this program. Global entry program membership is valid for 5 years.

List of Documents required for background verification for Global Entry Program

List of documents required for background verification for GEP are as follows -

  • In case the present address of the applicant is different from what is mentioned in the existing passport
    1. Proof of current residential address including Aadhaar card, water bill, telephone bill, electricity bill, Voter Id card, Income tax assessment order, Proof of gas connection, Certificate from employer of reputed companies on letter head, Parent’s passport copy (In case of minor), Spouse’s passport copy, Rent agreement, Bank account passbook.
    2. Original old passport with self-attested photocopies of its first two and last two pages including ECR/NON-ECR page & page of observation (if any).
  • In case the present address of the applicant is same as mentioned in the existing passport
    1. Apply for background verification for Global Entry Program through online form submission

  • Register yourself on Passport Seva online portal by clicking on “Register now”.
  • After doing registration, login to the Passport Seva online portal with your registered login ID and password.
  • Click on “Apply for background verification for GEP” link
  • Fill the required details in the form and submit the same online.
  • Click on “Pay & schedule appointment” link under “View saved/submitted applications” to schedule an appointment. Online payment is now mandatory at all PSK’s/passport offices for booking appointments online. Online payment can be done by the following methods –
    1. Credit/debit card (Master & Visa)
    2. Internet banking (SBI & other banks)
  • Take the printout of the application receipt containing application reference number by clicking on “Print application receipt”. As per the new process, it is not mandatory to print the application receipt, a SMS containing your appointment details is also considered as a valid proof of appointment by the PSK/Passport office.
  • Go to Passport Seva Kendra (PSK)/Regional passport office (RPO) on your scheduled date where appointment has been booked. Do not forget to carry your original documents.
