About Nadakacheri - Atalji Janasnehi Kendra Project

Nadakacheri, infamously known as the Atalji Janasnehi Kendra Project, is an initiative launched by the Karnataka State Government to provide services like caste certificate, income certificate, land documents, agriculture documents and various other Social Security Pensions. It was launched across 777 centers across the Karnataka state on 25th Dec 2012.

Nadakacheri utilizes backend computerization in order to activate the delivery of services and ensures transparency and uniform application of rules. This online delivery portal enables the government to keep a track of pending services in real time and also enables the citizens to know the status of their application as well as to avail various services. Through Nadakacheri, the Karnataka government aims to improve the overall efficiency of the process by ensuring prompt and effective services to its citizens. At present there are 769 Atalji Janasnehi Kendras i.e. Nadakacheries with additional Front Offices as notified by the government from time to time and the onus to monitor, facilitate and offer technical guidance lies down with the directorate.

Caste Certificate in Karnataka

In Karnataka, one can obtain his or her caste certificate by contacting Nadakacheri centre. A caste certificate, is nothing but a legal proof of one’s belonging to a particular caste, especially when he or she belongs to Scheduled Caste or Tribe, as specified in the Indian Constitution. If you belong to the Schedule Caste or Tribe, it is important for you to have a caste certificate in order to avail the benefits allocated to them by the government, although not every state has the provision to apply for the same online. However, Karnataka State Government has ensured that its citizens face no problem in obtaining caste certificate through Nadakacheri. In Karnataka, anyone who belongs to Scheduled Caste/Tribe or Other Backward Class is entitled for 15% and 3% reservations respectively and in order to claim your entitlement, you need to produce the caste certificate.

To apply for the caste certificate, you need to submit following documents:

  1. An application form
  2. Residence Proof
  3. Income report
  4. Caste/religion report
  5. In case of women, caste certificate before marriage
  6. A report regarding caste Patwari / Sarpanch
  7. Copy of Ration Card/ Copy of Voter Card / Name in the Voter List.

If you have following documents ready, you can apply for obtaining the caste certificate by following below steps:

  • Visit the official website of Nadakacheri on www.nadakacheri.karnataka.gov.in to apply for the Caste Certificate online.
  • Click on the “Apply Online” option on the home page.
  • Once you click on the “Apply Online”, a log-in page will be opened where you have to enter your registered mobile number.
  • Click on the “Proceed” button to enter Nadakacheri home page.
  • From the options given under the “New Request” tab, select “Caste Certificate” in order to apply for one. Once you select Income Certificate, it will prompt “English or Kannada” Certificates. Depending on your language preference, you can select one and cancel another.
  • Enter user details in the next page, such as:
    • Applicant name
    • Address
    • Mobile number
    • Date of birth
    • Total Annual Income
    • Applicant ID no
    • Reservation category
  • When you click on the “Caste Certificate” it will open a new page where you need to fill in the asked details in the specified format ( PDF format, not exceeding 2 MB) such as:
    • Address proof
    • Ration card
    • Epic
    • Passport
    • Rental agreement
    • ID proof
  • Red color labels indicate mandatory fields and whereas remaining fields are optional, it is important for an easy and fast processing.

  • Here you need to select “Mode of Delivery” as Nadakacheri (online) or Registered post.
  • Click on the “Save” button once you have filled in the details and uploaded relevant documents. It will generate an acknowledgement number, which you need to save. Same will be sent on your registered mobile number as well.
  • Click on the “OK” button.
  • Next step is payment. Select the mode of payment and make the payment by filling in the required card details. You can make the payment by Credit Card or Internet banking or Debit card. A fee for issuing the caste certificate is Rs 15 per certificate.
  • You will receive a date on which your caste certificate will be issued by the concerned authority.
  • Once you have completed the process of applying for the caste certificate, you can visit the official website of Nadakacheri to know about the status of your application.
  • You will get a notification on your registered mobile number when your caste certificate is issued. You can download the same by following below mentioned steps:
    • Visit the official website of Nadakacheri.
    • Click on the first option under the important link on the website. If the application is rejected, you have the option to go for higher officer appeal at Assistant Commissioner.
    • Enter the acknowledgment number.
    • Click on “Show Certificate”.
    • Your caste certificate will be displayed on the screen.
    • You can choose to download or print the caste certificate.
  • Once issued, a caste certificate is valid for the lifetime.

Application for Income Certificate

Application for obtaining income certificate can be obtained both online and in person. With the introduction of Nadakacheri services, more and more people are opting for obtaining their income certificate online. Anyone who is a employed person and is in a real need to have a income certificate is eligible to apply for the same. While you apply for the income certificate online, you need to have following documents ready by your side:

  1. Income proof or salary slip or bank statement.
  2. Age proof or school leaving certificate or birth certificate
  3. Address proof or ration card or bank passport or passport
  4. ID proof or voter ID card or driving license or aadhar card
  5. Passport size photos
  6. Caste certificate, if you belong to Scheduled Caste or Tribe or Other Backward Classes.
  7. Aadhar card

You can apply for the income certificate by following below mentioned steps:

  • Visit the official website of Nadakacheri on www.nadakacheri.karnataka.gov.in to apply for the Income Certificate online.
  • Click on the “Apply Online” option on the home page.
  • Once you click on the “Apply Online”, a log-in page will be opened where you have to enter your registered mobile number.

  • Once you have submitted your application for obtaining income certificate, the same is transferred to operator login on respective area Nadakacheri operator, who then takes a print out of online uploaded documents and forward the same to respective village accountant or revenue inspector.
  • Once you have completed the process of applying for the income certificate, you can visit the official website of Nadakacheri to know about the status of your application.
  • You will get a notification on your registered mobile number when your income certificate is issued. You can download the same by following below mentioned steps:
    • Visit the official website of Nadakacheri.
