How do I apply for a PAN Card?

Will I get an acknowledgement when I submit my PAN application form at a TIN-FC?

Yes, you will get an acknowledgement number. It is a unique and fifteen-digit number.

When I submit Form 49A for PAN Card, what are the charges that I have to bear?

If you are living in India, then the fee of PAN card processing is Rs. One hundred and ten. (Application fee Rs. 93 + 18% GST).

If you are living outside India, then the fee of PAN card processing is Rs. 1,020 (Application fee Rs. 93 + dispatch charges Rs. 771 + 18% GST).

How should I update the PAN application form?

The PAN application form should be legible updated in English. You require to use black ink and capital letters to update the information. Before filling the form, ensure that you read the entire instructions.

Is it necessary to include father’s name in the application form for a female who is married/widow/divorced?

In the PAN application form, all the female applicants need to include the name of their father, regardless of their marital status. The form does not require to update with the name of the husband.

What are the documents that I should submit along with my PAN Card application form?

Along with your PAN application you require to submit the following documents.

  • Address Proof
  • Identity Proof
  • Date of birth Proof

This is relevant only for HUF and individual applicants.

Is it necessary to furnish 2 photos for the PAN Card Application?

Yes, you need to paste your two recent color photos with white background in the form if you are an individual applicant. The photos size must be 3.5 cm X 2.5 cm. The photographs should not be stapled or clipped to the forms. The applicant is needed to sign the photograph in such a way that a part of the sign is on the form and rest is on the photo.

The clarity of image on the PAN card will depend upon the quality and clarity of the photograph which you pasted on the application form.

Should I mention my E-mail ID or Telephone Number on the PAN Card Application Form?

It is necessary for all the applicants to give their telephone number and email ID in the application form for PAN. Therefore, in case of a discrepancy, they can be contacted. It is also useful when the applicant gets the PAN via email.

The applicant needs to mention the STD code and country code if he provides the landline number. In case of mobile numbers, country code should be provided.

If the email ID of the applicant is given, the PAN will be sent to her/him via the email.

How do I check the status of my PAN Card application?

You need to visit the NSDL-TIN website to check the status of your PAN application. After that click on the menu option “Status Track”. Enter your fifteen-digit unique acknowledgement number to receive the status. After three days from the date of application, you can check the status.

Check PAN Card Application via SMS

By using your mobile phone, you can receive the status of your PAN card application via SMS. For this you need to type “NSDLPAN” followed by your fifteen-digit acknowledgement number. To receive the application status via SMS, you require to send the message to 57575.

Check PAN Card Application via IVR (Interactive Voice Response)

You can also check the status of your PAN card application via IVR (Interactive Voice Response). For this, you require to contact the contact center of the tax information network at 020-27218080 of the Income Tax Department.

What is the PAN Card Application Process for Individuals who are unable to sign?

In such a case, the applicants need to provides their left-hand thumb impression at the place for signature in the application form for PAN. This application form can be attested by a magistrate, a Gazetted officer, or a Notary Public with an official seal and stamp.

How can I change the photograph on my PAN Card?

If the photo on your PAN card is not clear, then you can replace this photograph on the PAN card with a photograph of better clarity and quality. The photo change facility is available in “Correction of PAN Card” requests. This request is same to that for modification in name and date of birth.

For this, you require to visit the website and fill the application form. For example, “PAN card changes request form”. The concerned documents can be sent to the address written in the form.

Mandatory PAN Submission for Property Registration in Andhra Pradesh?

The Department of Stamps and Registration makes it mandatory to submit PAN card for all the transactions above rupees one lakhs related to the purchasing and selling of property. Due to this, transactions related to properties in Andhra Pradesh has reduced in numbers.

Earlier, for the transactions up to rupees five lakhs, PAN information is not required. But according to the latest order of government, you have to link property with the PAN card if the value of the property is more than rupees one lakhs.

If the PAN information is not available, individuals in agricultural sector requires to submit the form 61, while individuals in the non-agricultural sector needs to submit the form 60. Without providing the PAN information, the information of the concerned person will be sent to the Income Tax Department. If after the verification, the person is found guilty, then the notices will be send to that person.

The Income Tax Department further directs the Stamps and Registration department to provide information of all such transactions of the property with more than rupees thirty lakhs for verification.

Due to the latest regulations, people are hesitant in making any type of property related transactions as they don’t want to comes under the scanner of Income Tax. This will result into a decrease in the revenue of the government.

How to Apply For PAN Card on UMANG App?

The UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-Age Governance) app which is launched recently is being promoted as a one stop platform for offering a wide variety of government services. This app also helps you in linking your Aadhar. Apart from that it also provides services like enrolment under the NPS (National Pension Scheme) and creation of digital life certificate for the pensioners.

Users of this app can also apply a new PAN card via this app. The Income Tax Department has recently started this service. It permits for checking the status of PAN card application. By entering the Aadhar information, the requirements of e-KYC can be fulfilled.

For the digital India campaign, this service will come as a boost and makes it very easy for the applicants to track the status of their PAN card application.
