How to Apply for Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Pension Scheme (PM-SYM)?

Recently in Union Budget 2019, a mega pension scheme named “Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan”scheme has been introduced by Modi government. It is a pension scheme started for individuals working in the unorganized sector. As per this scheme, every individual will be given a monthly pension of Rs.3000 starting from the age of 60 years. This scheme also has a provision of family pension for the spouse after the death of the individual.

Who can join Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Pension Scheme (PM-SYM)?

In order to join this scheme, you need to satisfy the following eligibility criteria –

  1. An individual should be an unorganized sector worker.
  2. The individual age should lie between 18-40 years.
  3. Individual’s monthly income should not be more than Rs.15000

Who cannot join Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Pension Scheme (PM-SYM)?

The following persons are not eligible to join this scheme –

  1. Individuals belonging to organized sector
  2. Members of employee provident fund (EPF)
  3. Members of National pension scheme (NPS)
  4. Members of Employee state insurance corporation (ESIC)
  5. Income tax payers

Documents required for enrollment in PM Shram Yogi-Mann Dhan Pension Scheme (PM-SYM)

  1. Aadhaar card
  2. Savings bank account or a Jan-dhan account with IFSC code.
  3. Mobile number (should be valid)

Apply for PM-SYM Scheme?

In order to apply for PM-SYM scheme, you need to visit your nearest common service center (CSC) along with the required documents –

  1. Aadhaar card
  2. Bank passbook
  3. Mobile
  4. IFSC Code (It should be printed on your savings bank account)

If you want to find the common service center (CSC) near your house, kindly visit this website https://www.epfindia.gov.in. You can easily download the details of your nearest common service centre (CSC) from this website. As an alternative, you can also visit the branch offices of life insurance corporation of India(LIC), Employee provident fund organization (EPFO), employee state insurance corporation (ESIC) and labour offices of central & state government in order to enquire your nearest common service centres (CSC).

After visiting common service centre, you need to submit the self-certified form with the consent form for auto-debit facility. Both of these forms are available at common service centre.

You need to fill up all the required information in the form on the basis of details mentioned in your Aadhaar card and Passbook of your savings bank account. After details verification, an OTP will be sent to your mobile number.

Amount of Contribution

Amount of contribution made by an individual depends upon his or her age. The amount of contribution will remain same throughout the period i.e. till the age of 60 years. The first subscription amount should be paid by an individual in cash. After the first subscription, the contribution amount will start deducting monthly from the individual savings bank account.

Process Completion

Once the process of enrollment is completed at your nearest common service centre, a unique number is generated under the pension scheme and a printed pension scheme card is allotted to the individual at CSC. Pension scheme card includes name, pension account number, pension start date and a monthly pension amount of an individual.
